Dt. Asmita Chhabra
Dronacharya Cricket Academy organized first ever workshop on Diet and Nutrition for Sportsmen on 8th December 2019. Dt. Asmita Chhabra, a renowned dietician conducted the workshop for first batch of young players along with their parents.
Dt. Asmita started her address on the importance of diet a young player needs every day to give his or her best performance on and off the field. She emphasized that an active player requires more protein and carbohydrates than a normal kid but she also said that Indian homemade food like dals, curd, green vegetables, and paneer have all the nutrients a young sportsman needs. It's a myth that a player needs a huge daily intake of protein to build large strong muscles and advised parents to give a balanced diet having proteins, carbohydrates, small quantity of fats, vitamins etc.
Dt. Asmita also interacted directly to children and advised them to give up junk food and sugary food if they want to perform well on the field as product like candy bars or sodas are not healthy because they don't contain any of the other nutrients.
A leaflet containing all the information was distributed to parents for ready reference.
